Kenco and GreyOrange smarter fulfillment video banner featuring a warehouse robot and associate. Watch what’s driving progress.

Kenco’s partnership with GreyOrange brings warehouse robotics and AI-powered orchestration together to improve fulfillment performance. In the featured video, Kenco reports consistently achieving nearly twice its starting case-picking productivity. That progress reflects a practical approach to automation: understand the challenge, apply the right technology, and measure the results.

Watch the full video above to hear Kenco’s approach to logistics, its partnership with GreyOrange, and the opportunities ahead for warehouse automation.

Addressing labor challenges and complex orders

Distribution operations need to keep products moving as labor availability, wage pressures, and customer requirements change. For Kenco, warehouse automation helps address the time spent traveling between tasks and the growing complexity of fulfillment.

GreyOrange robotics support product movement, giving associates more opportunity to focus on picking and other essential work. The goal is to make better use of the people and resources within the operation while building capacity to meet customer needs.

Jason Minghini identifies two connected priorities: automating physical work and using artificial intelligence to coordinate increasingly complex order patterns.

How GreyMatter supports warehouse orchestration

GreyMatter is GreyOrange’s warehouse orchestration software. It coordinates tasks across people and robotic systems, connecting the decisions behind fulfillment with the equipment carrying out the work.

That coordination matters when a warehouse handles different products, order quantities, and picking requirements. As those demands change, orchestration helps align work with available resources.

For Kenco, the partnership brings robotics and software into a shared approach to improving distribution operations. The opportunity extends beyond moving products: it includes connecting workflows so different parts of the operation can work together more effectively.

Nearly doubling case picking productivity

At the featured operation, case-picking productivity started at approximately 180 cases per hour. The project’s initial goal was approximately 340 cases per hour.

Kenco reports consistently achieving nearly twice the starting productivity, with performance exceeding 400 cases per hour in some instances. These results describe the operation featured in the video.

The improvement connects the technology investment to a clear operating measure: how many cases the team can pick in an hour. Hear directly from Kenco’s leaders about the challenges behind the project and the progress achieved through the partnership.

GreyOrange testing at Kenco’s Innovation Lab

GreyOrange technology is already implemented at select Kenco sites. Kenco is also testing additional GreyOrange technologies and applications at its 30,000-square-foot Innovation Lab in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The lab gives Kenco and its customers a hands-on setting to evaluate automation against real operational needs. GreyMatter demonstrations connect goods-to-person picking, outbound sortation, point-to-point material handling, and case picking, coordinating equipment from multiple vendors alongside warehouse associates.

Within the lab environment, Kenco can explore how technologies work together and where different solutions may fit. That testing builds on experience from active operations and supports more informed decisions about future implementations.

Connecting the next generation of fulfillment

Kenco’s long-term vision includes automation for pallets, cases, and individual items. Supporting that range requires evaluating how different systems can contribute to a coordinated fulfillment process.

Minghini shares the goal of using a shared orchestration platform to connect technologies such as autonomous mobile robots and automated storage and retrieval systems. Continued testing and operational experience help Kenco evaluate the next steps toward that vision.
